What's a better activity on a blue-sky fall day than picking pumpkins? Here are some of our favorite places for buying pumpkins and other favorite autumn items.
In Williamstown, head down Luce Road and visit Chenail's Farm Stand. Pick out a pumpkin, maybe two, from the rows of pumpkins set out for your consideration. The farmstand is located at 481 Luce Road and hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
At Hancock's Ioka Valley Farm you can actually pick your own pumpkin right off the vine. The Farm's Fall Fun Weekends are in full swing until the end of October so
come for the pumpkins, stay for the corn maze, sweets, giant pumpkin house and animal petting area. Ioka Farm is located at 3475 Hancock Road and is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 5:30 p.m.
Making the list again in Cheshire is Whitney's Farms Market & Garden Center, which along with other fall goodies, of course, has pumpkins for all of your carving/decorating needs.
The center's Pumpkin Fest is happening until Oct. 29, pumpkins, hay wagon rides, glitter tattoos, a corn maze, a giant slide, jumpin’ pumpkin, and more every weekend. Whitney's is located at 1775 South State Road in Cheshire. Their hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
In Lanesborough, Mountain View Farm may be known for its strawberry fields but come fall, they are flush with pumpkins. The farm is located at 45 Old Cheshire Road. Open Daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Heading south into Pittsfield, Forthill Farm can surely meet whatever pumpkin needs you may have. They are well stocked with other produce as well to complement any harvest dinner you may have planned. The farm is located at 325 Fort Hill Ave. and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Sunday when it closes at 5 p.m.
Taft Farm in Great Barrington also promises pumpkins among other things in its market. The farm also advertises an Alice and Wonderland-themed corn maze if that is your kind of thing. The farm is located at 119 Park St. It is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
If you care to venture over the border into Vermont, the Apple Barn in Bennington does have pumpkins and a corn maze this fall. It is open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Grab a homemade cider doughnut from the bake shop on your way out the door. The Apple Barn is located at 604 U.S. Route 7.
